Nuevas Fronteras is the multimedia component of Carolina del Norte, an ongoing, large-scale media project by the University of North Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communication that seeks to explore the impact of North Carolina's growing Latino population. From 1990 to 2008, the number of Latinos living in the state increased by nearly 600 percent. While illegal immigration grabs the headlines, it is only a fraction of the North Carolina Latino experience. We hope that these intimate portraits deepen our understanding of the intersection of Latino and American culture.
Here we all feel the same, we don't really feel alone. The we I feel is the way the rest of us feel."
